Chapter 1: A Special Message from Craig Schwartz, President of .Bank
Craig Schwartz
Hi, I’m Craig Schwartz, president of fTLD Registry Services, operator of the .Bank and .Insurance internet domain extensions. You’re listening to the very first episode of our new podcast, The Banker’s Domain. Even though the show will be an interview series, this episode is my chance to tell you about the vision for the show and what you can expect to hear in subsequent episodes.
Our team decided to start a podcast because we believe it’s part of our job to tell the stories of the amazing people who are working in banking and cybersecurity. Each year I work with hundreds of bankers and industry experts as they navigate growing digital trust issues, particularly in the face of artificial intelligence. I notice the patterns, learn about the pain points and challenges, and fortunately get to hear about the successes too. I speak with bankers just about every day, and it’s my very favorite part of the job.
Chapter 2: What You Can Expect to Hear on The Banker’s Domain
Craig Schwartz
This show offers people a new way to hear about what’s happening in this largely unseen but vitally important corner of the internet. It’s a way for us to stay connected in a world inundated with information. It’s also a chance to step back and share thoughtful conversations from experienced professionals. Whether you’re listening on your commute or working out in the yard, we see that podcasts allow people to engage in a way that works for them. In this world that’s being remade by technology like AI, we want The Banker’s Domain to become your inside view to what’s happening in banking, cybersecurity, and regulation. There’s rarely a chance to talk about the real-world trade-offs like balancing security with ease of use, or innovation with caution, or what’s possible and practical for an organization.
Chapter 3: The Challenges Facing Our Industry
Craig Schwartz
The banking sector is a massive target for fraud and crime, and we only see that trend intensifying. This is a moment where we need every advantage that technology and cooperation can give us.
Meanwhile, the broader conversation treats banking security as either a checkbox compliance issue or an abstract tech conversation, not the real human leadership challenge it is. Executives face new problems and have to develop novel solutions without an opportunity to share what they’ve learned or learn from the work of their peers. Frequently, a single decision made decades ago has long-lasting consequences for an entire network. Meeting this moment requires a different approach. The banking sector must stop viewing cybersecurity as something to endure and start seeing it as a competitive advantage.
Chapter 4: Shifting From Isolation to Cooperation
Craig Schwartz
We must shift from isolation to collaboration, understanding that peers face similar problems, and that transparent conversations produce results, not vulnerabilities. As AI makes it harder and harder to know who to trust, a .Bank domain takes the guesswork out of it. As we say, if it’s not .Bank, it’s not your bank.
That’s why I’m excited to launch The Banker’s Domain podcast. Here we’ll dive into the stories behind banking’s most important security decisions. I want our show to help others see what I see: the leadership, courage, and vision of the men and women protecting and serving our industry. We hope you’ll join us for this incredible journey on The Banker’s Domain. You can subscribe to the show wherever you get your podcasts, including Apple, Spotify, and YouTube.
